Who we are
FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH OF HONOLULU
Hawaii's Original
We are Hawaii’s original Methodist Church established in 1855 under a Royal Charter issued by King Kamehameha IV. We are the only congregation in the United Methodism so established.
Bible Study & Small Groups
Please join us for lively and insightful conversation about faith every Sunday after the 10:00 AM worship service in the upstairs Library from about 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
Our Sanctuary
Our sanctuary was designed by architect Alfred Preis, who also designed the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor.
Community Foodbank
The foodbank operates Mondays and one Saturday a month from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM. Begun 25 years ago by Lissi Chadwick, Rev. Carmen Pak and Ann Drake, 25 volunteers now come in every week (about half from our church). Over the last few years, about 400 people per month have been helped with a bag of groceries, including about 100 children.
Throughout our history, we have been a church which celebrates diversity under the unifying spirit of Christ and which seeks his leadership in new and innovative ministries.
