Lent is here. Now we pre- pare our hearts, mind, spirit, bodies, and intentions for what is to come: the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Lent is a time to reflect, to renew, to restore our relationship with God.
It is a time to try to break ourselves out of routines that can be unhealthy, unproductive and irresponsible to our calling from God.
We are on our way! Our “Catch the Spirit” visioning campaign has taken off! Our vision facilitator Lily Bloom Domingo will be meeting with 14 different groups in our church. Some are small, and some are larger with trained small group leaders. We are taking the question
“what does God want us to do and be in the next 5 years” directly to all of you, to hear how God is speaking to our church through you. More…
Welcome Paul! Welcome to Paul Harleman our new Treasurer/Bookkeeper. Paul is the former Hawaii State Senate Minority Budget Director and currently works full-time for the Office of Hawaiian Affairs as a Trustee Aide. Paul has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master’s in Business Administration. We are truly blessed to have Paul on board! Read more here.
New Singles Ministry
After attending a few conferences on the main-land, I came back home and observed my surroundings. Shortly thereafter, I had a conversation with someone about our experiences growing up in the church and how times have changed. Our conversation got deeper and it became clear that we needed something to be-long to, to be a part of that was out of the ordinary and that catered to the needs of the millennials. We prayed about it, then we began putting the vision into writing and now we have ar-rived in the beginning stages. Read more here.

2 Corinthians 9:8 “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
God abundantly blessed First Church with God-loving, faithful and visionary members and pastors, who seek God’s mission for our community. And God continues this abundance through our financial increase produced by the Admiral Thomas renegotiated lease rents. Read more here.
STRENGTH FOR THE JOURNEY
Strength for the Journey is an annual spiritual retreat for those with HIV/AIDs. It is an ecumenical camp that provides support, rest and renewal in a faith-filled environment. About 30 campers attend each year, but most are unable to pay the entire registration fee. If you would like to contribute to this fund, please do so through the offering or at the church office.
